Higher Perception allows you to see longer distances.
Raise perception by eating carrots. Drinking Ommel Tears also increases perception and charisma. Zapping wands very slightly increases perception.
Items
Wearing a helmet of piercing perception will increase perception, with each +1 bonus in AV also resulting in a +1 bonus to perception
