The big collection of screw ups.
I'll start;

Found a scroll of harden material in UT 1. I read it, and being used to my limbs being of different materials then flesh, I tried to simply press down and enter to harden my arm. I attempted to harden the encrypted scroll, and wasted the harden material.
:x

Getting cocky and attempting to rob Merka simply because I had some angels.

Merka never seems to have anything worth robbing from for me. He generally has worse stuff then the attnam shop, though your situation reminds me of yesterday, when I tried to buy something at his shop and it counted as stealing. I wasn't invisible or anything, I had no intristics at all, save satiated and burdened, and I was just a normal human. I actually lived though, teleported away and quickly ran to the next level. He didn't have anything useful anyway, and that character died at enner beast.

xD

I find the reverse. Most of the things in Attnam I could find for myself, or something better. Merka on the other hand often has some neat wands and scrolls. He's one strong bastard though, not even a pair of hasted angels can stand up to him.

I don't normally buy anything from either shop anyway, I generally save my money for the precious scrolls in the library. I did like the game where I had 2 wishes in UT from genies, then bought a lamp in Attnam that gave me another wish.

But the library is open for grabs. You could buy all the scrolls and book then bankrupt the library.

You can sell stuff at the library then kick them out.

Hmm, I find i often screw up as a result of finding an epic item. Probably because I get cocky and don't run away as often as I should.

Oh, and then there was the time I tried killing the polar bear in attnam, because ya know, all the hunters going on about killing bears and such...

The most common screw ups for me are:
- wearing a ring of invisibility and accidentally stealing from a shop
- accidentally kicking in Merka's shop door

I kick in his door too. You'd think he'd have a sign on the exterior of his shop, or something?

Speaking of the library cheat, I recently lost a good character over kicking a stack and hitting a housewife. Damned commoners don't know how to stay out of the line of fire! :x

There´s a little square at the far bottom that I can´t see with 10 PER, where that damned commoner woman is always hiding.

Pull out a wand of door creation and make a backstop for the scrolls to hit

Couldn't you kill her with banana peels?

kyle: That is far from the point. If you hit *anyone* in Attnam, by design or accident, everybody goes hostile (including Petrus and the angels he summons). The veteran guards and shopkeeps are enough to make hanging around (especially if this is your first visit to Attnam) a *really* bad idea, let alone if Petrus and his Valpuri angel posse come after you.

I mean dropping the banana peels and having her walk over them. I said nothing about hitting her.

Ah. I guess I could try that, but I've never bothered hanging on to banana peels. I might have to wait a while before the hunters/maidens who can randomly walk past the doorway hurt themselves too much to be in my way.

I'm wondering what would happen if you used a wand of door creation to create a wall on either side of the path the scrolls and books fly when you kick them downwards. Like if you made a hallway of doors. I think the patrol guard would get pissed trying to open the doors.

Nah, I figure you'd just zap it while standing next to the entrance. Then you just kick stuff out the door into the nearby one (and hope nobody tries to open the backstop). Bigger problem I have is that I find wands of door creation to not be very common; a broken bottle or banana peel would be much more accessible generally speaking.

Fixed that for you. And yes, mines definitely belong in the big collection of screw-ups.

How many times didn't I hear a CLICK when I least expected it, rushing forward into a mine I placed there myself...
