So I noticed the page on the Gods wasn't complete in the Wiki. Which annoyed me since I've recently decided that I must beat IVAN, and couldn't remember everything about the gods.

That and Seges did something unexpected. I know she'll feed you, heal you, etc, but just how I prayed and was given a nice ring of poison resistance, which I don't think I've ever had happen before.

Seges once gave me an armor of great health +5. My favorite god by far.

I think each god (maybe except the bosses) can give things he/she is a patron of (the same items are accepted as sacrifices). So Loricatus gives weapons, Seges gives healing stuff, Sophos gives scrolls IIRC, and so on.

I pray religiously in IVAN mellis to dulcis and all god in between, sometimes I'll go up atavaus for his arcanite mail and valpurus for his valpuirum sword or shield. Each god will give you random gives every once in a while,

Mellis : Belt of carrying +X, Helment of attractivity +X, ommel fluids (above and beyond his filling of empty containers), gems
Loricatus: Flaming swords +X, Plate mail +X, SoHM, SoRep
Silva: arcanite staff +X
Sophos: SoCM, wand of cloning (pretty sure i got one once)
Seges: Stehoscope, Armour of great health +X, healing potions, ring of poison resist
Dulcis: SoTaming, Lyre of Charm (awesome), magic whistle,
Atavus: arcanite plate mail, scroll of wishing (again pretty sure i got one once) lamp
Legifer: SoDM
Valpurus: Valpurium sword or shield

I pretty much only pray to Legifer despite the apparent lack of his Holy Books.Why,you ask?I think you have to be his champion,but sometimes he'll make a gigantic explosin in all adjacent squares,around 5 squares away.So in other words,possibly as big or bigger explosion than a big mine that can't hurt you.

Only praying to one god is wasteful.As for holy books it comes down to luck. Other than Morty and Valp I don't think any gods' book is rarer than any other.

Orly?I seem to get Morty and Valp's book almost as much as Seges's books.as for only praying to one god,I sometimes pray to Seges and Silva too.But Legifer is the shit for dealing with named baddies.

What I mean is, without losing favor with Leg you can safely pray to Seges, Atavus, Dulcis, AND Valpurus, all in the same game. I'd reccomend praying to all (or most) of them at the same time, to make god timers easier to keep track of.

I mostly play LIVAN,which tracks the timers for you.Sort of.

Myself I like chatic gods, like Nefas (gives mistresses), Cruentus (Troll Blood and recommends to Mortifier), Mortifier (Neerc Se'Ulb one of the best weapons ever), sometimes Scabies (polymorph, sometimes Leprosy for a close area).

If given the choice, I like to go for Loricatus. Taking the dual hammers from his angels is just delightful, and hardening/repairing your stuff is quite nice.

I remember a long time ago I suggested a Cruentus drop for Berserker Gloves on the official forums. Or maybe it was just in IRC. Anyways, what would happen is over time they'd get more and more powerful as blood was splashed on them, slowly adding extra damage to your unarmed attacks. However, if there wasn't blood on the gloves, it would damage the wearer.

So basically, when you first put them on they have not tasted blood and thus cause you no damage but not provide a boost to your unarmed attacks. However, if you've been destroying shit on a regular basis and soaking up plenty of blood you'll do a very respectable amount of extra unarmed damage, but if that blood runs out you'll likely be dead within an hour unless you can manage to kill something. Seems like Cruentus's style and would actually make unarmed worth a shit to play with.

Thinking about it a bit more, you could probably make them do a balancing act between Arm Strength and Endurance, gradually raising your STR as they soak up blood and gradually draining away your END as they long as they are dry. Would be fucking evil, as these would be permanent bonuses/losses. I like the former idea better, but this approach also seems pretty interesting (though i like the idea of focusing on unarmed damage a bit more since I find unarmed to be the most intense and pure form of combat with only your gloves separating you from the damage you're inflicting).

Very interesting idea! There's a problem though; I'd at least take them off if there's a risk of them drying up... That'd leave a pretty much superweapon.

Cruentus will also enchant your weapons.

I love Silva. Gave me an arm out of rose quartz once, and then when my leg fell off I got an ommel hair leg.

Personally Silva is among my "avoid" gods (right next to Scabies). Sure, she'll feed you and might give you some nice limbs, but the earthquakes are more trouble than they're worth in my opinion, and the pets... well, I don't like pets much, since they tend to run off and kill everything, leaving nothing for me to kill, which means I die once I do actually have to fight something.

Well why the hell would you take them off?! I mean, they're only really useful if they've been on for an extended period of time and, if you do take them off you have no other weapon skills to speak of (or any individual weapons you have any degree of specialization in for that matter), leaving you virtually helpless. I see what you're getting at, but I guess I just don't see why you'd ever take them off. Besides, if times really get tough you could always dip the gloves in troll blood. In fact, that could actually be an interesting way to add on extra damage during the really tough fights.

That always seemed like the Cruentus way to me, ditching your personal safety for the pursuit of combat and carnage.

You know, as I was playing a funny thing happened. I had +3 steel gloves and was absolutely destroying everything in my path until Rondol came along and spanked the living shit out of me without taking a scratch. However, against just about everything I came up against I was ripping arms, legs and heads off like there was no tomorrow. It occurred to me that, with a more tactical approach unarmed could probably be extremely useful, but I still don't haven't tested enough to be able to verify its usefulness. For example, I'm not sure if the +X bonuses to your gloves affect your unarmed damage, if a heavier gauntlet does more damage than a lighter one regardless of AC (bronze > adamantite?) and I wasn't even paying much attention to how well I ended up parrying either. What I do know is that I wasn't doing so hot against carnivorous plants, but anything with detachable limbs didn't last very long against me (except the aforementioned Rondol, of course).

I'm gonna keep playing around with unarmed to see what kind of results I can get, but so far it's looking like it can be a lot more impressive than I originally thought. If you want to get a good look at just how damn impressive it can be get yourself an angel and strip it of its equipment. Force it not to change its gear and you'll end up with a buzzsaw that can rip through just about anything in a few hits. You might also want to try putting some heavy mitts, a decent cape and armor on him and see what you can do with it.

Back to the topic at hand though: Nefas. Drunken boxing. I WISH.

Actually this isn't entirely accurate... adamant is the 3ed densest material in the game (10000). Only silver (10500) and gold (11000) are heavier.

Yeah, poor choice. Should've said Mithril since it's much lighter but has a higher AC, which illustrates my question better. Wasn't thinking very clearly as I was dead tired at that point.

I thought gold was 20000 density
