*sigh* Let me share with you this sad story.

I had a lovely character, who became a champion of Valpurus still in the UT, and ran around with a valpurium shield, helmet of brilliance, mithril warhammer +5, and the lawful gods were at his side. Oh, and I had two pet werewolves "I'll kick Elpuri's ass", I thought in my pride.

Then, as I got past enner (no problem), I decided to stay in the big room level for a bit too long, fighting baddies. So a kamikaze dwarf kills me, and causes an explosion of a wand of polymorph (why did I keep it after polymorphing that damn chest at all?), turning me into a carnivorous mutant bunny.

Oops.

Well, since I still had my 44 HP and a helluva agility, I decided to run around avoiding enemies. I even decided to run up one level, but ended up surrounded by monsters, so I just went down, killed that blink dog, and kept on running.

Then I got exhausted, then I got fainting, then I got killed.

So it goes.

Reading Modour Pass, stepped away from computer, came back character starved to death.

The pass has no reading duration, if you don't move or get attacked and choose to stop reading it, you eventually die of starvation.

Not exactly a horrible death, actually I think it is kind of cute in an IVANish sort of way...to wit even reading can kill you in IVAN.

Can't help but think of World of Warcraft, the equivalent of this phenomenon IRL.

[EDIT] ... if you're korean.

Today I had one of my best characters ever, good armor and such strolling through the Gloomy Caves. I saw a goblin butcher up ahead and didn't think he stood a good chance at doing any damage to me. To my surprise right as I got up in his face I received the message
"Your Ommel Bone Armor of Great Health +6 rots completely."
Quickly followed by
"The goblin butcher hits you critically in the chest with his iron mace +2!"
"The goblin butcher hits you critically in the chest with his iron mace +2! You die."

I got a mistress after exploring about a quarter of UT1. She had an iron spear +2 (or something to that effect) and the only thing of worth that I had found was a wand of haste, no armor or weapons. I would have ran away but she kind of bumped into me while I was taking a nap in a room and she killed me right quick.

Not necessarily my most horrible, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Take it to the mysterious stranger in New Attnam while holding it in your inventory and he'll mark the location of Monder on your map, a town with a shop and a dungeon with 4 levels and a neat bossfight at the end. Completing the Monder quest is pointless though, the reward you get from the master assassin is bugged and instead of the Whip of Thievery named Gleipnir you only get a spider silk whip of thievery The dungeon is nice for the loot though.

hmm I thought I got Gleipnir when I played LIVAN a while back. Those assassins have way too high dexterity or agility or something, because often I miss them 60+ times before getting a hit. But props to lampshade, Mondedr really adds more depth to the game with more places to explore.

The assassins seem to be bugged, as even with 600 dexterity you miss just as often as with 30 dexterity.

You can use a scroll of change material to make them decrease your total weight even more.

Started with 12/13 of almost every attribute

GC 2

Kicked shopkeeper's door, shopkeeper angry.
As i had 5 chaotic gods 'extremely pleased', my personal angel guard quickly disposed of the shopkeeper and his homies.

Got away with all the shopkeeper's stuff, but all angels were killed in the process.

To give you an idea of my inventory, I had 3 Saal'thul's (bone files ) and was burdened with only extremely valuable stuff, LS 19 and Belt of Carrying +5

4 hours had passed since my last round of prayers, so everything was safe to pray again, hoping for a new angel guard.

I prayed, got haste, prayed again, bottle of troll blood, and then i prayed to Infuscor.

'I like you,' she said, 'And because you always served me well, i will transform you into an extremely mighty and ferocious beast of which legends to come shall speak for eternity'.

'You are transformed into a dark frog'
'A gray unicorn appears'
...

I didn't even have the chance to use a potion.

But god, I want that bone file.

I just noticed what Apple was referring to in this post, actually. There is a large difference between a 1000 grams and 1000 kilograms.

A bit off-topic, but is it possible to get a bone file with Merka dead? I believe I've never seen that.

No, I don't believe so. Altering certain level features -- i.e. killing a bossmonster (Jenny, the Enner Beast, etc) or disturbing certain rooms (dwarven minefield, the "hidden" rooms) prevents a bones from being generated on that level.
