| I think it\'s not the point now, Somagu Permanent levitation, haste, polycontrol etc. from fountains is a completely different effect. Ever notice that in these rare occurences the message isn\'t \"this wates tastes normal, but there is ann odd after taste\"? It\'s This water tastes very odd. Now THAT message usually indicates You just got a hundred times more lucky than with a temp effect. HOWEVER, if one would for example have ESP from eating a floating eye, and would happen to drink from a fountain and hit the \"temporary ESP effect\" a couple of times, it COULD become permanent. Then it\'s the same as when zapping ~40 wands of haste one oneself. |

Basically (if I remember this correctly), 65535 is the threshold for a permanent state. If a fountain or mushroom (or anything else) bumps you above that threshold, the stat still stays white until, over time, the value drops back down to 65535. | Until I checked I didn\'t realize just *how* bad attractivity was compared to other helmets. Strangeish as you\'d think it being special it would at least beat a full bronze helmet in AV value, but a +5 helmet of attractivity just sitting in the dungeon would still be rather handy in the early game as it has the same AV as a full steel helmet. EDIT: It also hardens to diamond, which for a +5 attractivity helmet would make 27 AV (beats the full adamantine helmet by 1 AV). Unless you find a scroll of change material first, you\'ll want to keep that helmet. E2: No, you can\'t harden understanding or perception helmets. Brilliance hardens to octiron and gets 20+(enchantment value) AV. |

| [quote=\"Alveradok\";14984]15 in attractivity makes You able to talk to Decos! That\'s as much as 2 Int and a Wis! Good point. I was thinking of deals in the shops, but I forgot about the requirement for Decos. |

| Helm of Attractivity = made of gold Helm of Piercing Perception = made of illithium (?) Helm of Understanding = made of unicorn horn (?) I can\'t recall exactly actually. One of the two (perception / understanding) is unicorn horn, but I actually forget what the other is made of. |
|
BDR |
Feb 9, 2010, 12:06 am |
| Understanding is indeed unicorn horn. Brilliance is made of arcanite. | |
Ischaldirh |
Feb 9, 2010, 3:45 am |
| Riiight, Arcanite. Which is a good thing because while gold will harden to diamond at around 40 INT, arcanite will harden to mithril at only 25 (30? god, it\'s been too long since I played IVAN), and can be further hardened to octiron. | |
BDR |
Feb 9, 2010, 4:43 am |
| Which would be nicer if a) mithril gave more than an extra 2 AV and b) octiron didn\'t require the same amount of Int to harden to (according to the wiki) as diamond does (and since diamond helmets give 6 more AV than the octiron helmets, generally speaking a more useful use of harden material). A scroll of change material and the right amount of Int will make all that a moot point o\'course. | |
Ischaldirh |
Feb 9, 2010, 7:41 am |
| You\'re also forgetting the stat that is increased. A helm of brilliance +5 can become octiron 5 INT earlier than a helm of attractivity +5 (assuming you don\'t have both). | |

| Here\'s my full set as I walked into Attnam. Luckily a pet took care of the skeletons carrying those axes, I\'m sure I would have been one-shotted. They ended up being my weapons for quite a while. | |

chaostrom |

| Is that a screenshot from 0.50 though? The default weapon for a skeleton is a bronze axe -2 (with slight variations). Those enchantments are almost preposterous. | |

| Can be. Later in the game it\'s the same as in the case of veteran dark knights in +9 iron armor. | |

Feb 11, 2010, 8:45 pm |
| Yes, it is regular 0.50. My only guess as to why they were enchanted so high, is because I had a pack of wolves following me from a fountain and an angel... I didn\'t have Atavus\'s armor yet. Actually, I don\'t think I had any body armor at all. | |

Not exactly near the start of the game (I\'m down to GC4 now) but I\'ve found THREE Oily Orpivs so far ![]() Needless to say that raised my danger level higher than I desired at first but by now most of my equipment has balanced that out. Agility is also very low ![]() |

After that a wand of polymorph, and then a kobold with a ring of teleport control and an amulet of esp. Still haven\'t explored more than a third of UT 1. ![]() Edit: still in UT 1: scroll of change material... and carrot. Edit 2: UT 2, wand of cloning, rapier named Lynslag. Edit 3: Ommel Urine. Yay! |

| ...if you want IVAN on PSP, make it yourself. Or, you know, find a bunch of coders and pay them to make a port. Whinging about it not existing will not make it happen. Edit: I feel like being helpful so here is a link to the PSP-compatible DOSBox and also one to a place where the DOS port of IVAN can be found just under the Windows port binary. JimmyJ mentioned this in your poll but maybe you forgot or missed it so here is a workaround just for you. |

| The bit where he sort of played like the mistype was real wasn\'t where my objection lay; it was the bit where it was less of a joke about it and more of a whiny \"why is there no IVAN on PSP gawd I want it so bad\" style post that I objected to, as he\'s already made one topic about it and was given a means to have it available to him that way (plus, I\'m also annoyed because he dashed my dreams of having someone around who might do *something* new with IVAN, even if it was more or less useless to me). | |

| Eh, in the first floor of the Tunnels, I had gotten my hands on one of those Thieving Girdle deals, +2, then ran into a ommel cerumen golem, which was barely any ommel at all. But hey, the 1 Intelligence and Wisdom was nice. Ended up with mostly leather gear and mithril daggers by the time I got to Genetrix, but.. got unlucky, got bit in the head by a greater plant, and.. you guys know the rest. | |

capristo |
Feb 9, 2011, 9:38 pm |
| Wow. TWO scrolls of charging, 1 SOCM, 1 wand of mirroring, 1 thunder hammer, a horn of bravery, and a dragon hide cloak of fire resistance. All in UT 2. And a meteoric steel chain mail, boots of agility, gauntlets of strength (neither pair was broken), and a pre-enchanted nymph hair whip +2 To top it all off, in UT3 I ran into a Bones file. Not the best items, but there was another scroll of charging. |

Noooooo!!! The same character was up to 35 Dex without any training, had dual whips of thievery +12, still had 2 scrolls of charging and a wand of cloning with 3 charges.
