My self destructive love affair with Mjolak
I always fall for the trap that the super damage is worth it. I just cant help myself because every time i find it i envision it enchanted up to like +9 faceraping every dude who comes along. But I forget that I have 11astr and no SoEW. it just happened to me again, I had a pretty nice guy going. good stats lucky equipment finds good gear, 2 wands of poly on GC1 (nice!) and bam. killed by Fricking Rondol. I had found Mojo on like turn three in UT1, and thought my level 10 skill in it wold be enough.

Is it worth it to hold onto mojo until i get my astr up and find some SoEW? It seems like it would be a waste of weight because by the time I would be able to use it well, I would be heavily trained with other weapons already (most likely).

yeah its worth holding onto. Just use reg halberd to train your strength a bit and still gain polearms experience. Your real problem was trying to melee Rondol before you were ready. Just fight smarter - e.g. use invisibibilty to launch sneak attacks on Rondol, trhow things, set traps/mines, zap him with wands, or just plain run away.

Even better, just wield a spear. This is lighter, nearly as powerful, and will train you for Mjolak as well (spears & halberds are both polearms)! And you can also equip Vermis if you happen along that. 90% of my wins have used Mjolak.

Ahh, but that halberd will quickly get his AStr up to 20 where he can do some real damage with mjolak.

True. I always use Mjolak as soon as I find it, so I'm not sure why I said that.
Do as I do batman, not as I say
