Why are there constant giant plant attacks?
I keep getting groups of giant plants spawning around me. What's causing this? How do I stop it?

Gosh, you're a boring one.

It's Genetrix Vesana, a 4 tile large carnivorous plant mother that keeps spawning them around you. Find her, kill her, and deliver the message, that you may ask more simple questions about things you should find out yourself.

I mean really did you even try to figure it out on your own?

I've fully explored the level a couple of times, and never found any plant boss.

Seriously? You must have never found the exit then, because the plant is sitting right on top of it.

If you're playing pure .50 you shouldn't have any problems finding it, unless of course you die on the way. If you really really can't find it then post a few screenshots of the level first to prove you really looked everywhere, then I'll post what it should look like and give you a link so you can download it again and actually get what you're supposed to have there.

If it helps, it's in a room with a door. You know, in case you're one of those people who wouldn't expect to find a voracious plant in its own personal room rather than out in the open like some lower-class dandelion.

On my fifth time fully exploring the level, I found the boss plant. The other times, I'd explored everything I could get to, and couldn't find that plant room. Guess it was just bad luck with level design. Wouldn't be the first time I found a room that wasn't attached to the rest of the level.

Unless you've been messing around with the script files (or downloaded the game from somewhere else, possibly), no it wouldn't be bad luck with the level design. The levels are all randomly generated every playthrough and certain measures are in place to make sure important areas are (or aren't...) accessible without special requirements.

I've been playing IVAN for years, and I've not seen or heard of a single time Genetrix hasn't spawned.

Well, considering the plants kept popping up, I'm sure it spawned. But it seemed that the room it was in was disconnected from the rest of the dungeon.

I've never encountered that bug during my whole IVAN career, which makes me highly suspicious that would've happened without touching the script. The next time you encounter that, please triple-check the entirety of the level including each and every room while keeping an eye out for 4x4 rooms in particular. If still you can't find anything, "pics (and save files) or didnt happn".

The code should not leave any chance for any room to spawn disconnected from the rest of the level, save for a few special cases. None of these special cases are situated in UT3. Praying to Silva while on the level can cause Genetrix to teleport elsewhere on the level though, which may have happened.

If it wasn't connected, then how did you find it the 5th time?

The 5th time it was. It was actually the first room I came across.

I am xing everyone else who never ever had any problems finding the room with Genetrix in it. I have found it every single time I made it to UT3 and had a chance to explore the whole level. If you have another game where you can't find the room, post pics of your level if you don't mind (the Print Screen key on your keyboard will work just fine; paste into Paint with ctrl-v, save as a jpg and find your uploader of choice online and you're done). It's a bit hard to be sure you're not imagining things/concocting bs without pics.

Are you sure it's not just some silly mistake you might be making or something you're overlooking? Like not being aware that locked doors can be opened / kicked down, etc.

Again, if you ever play the game and won't be able to get to Genetrix Vesana on the level, I want a screenshot...
